WONB ("The Beat 94.9 FM") is a non-commercial, educational FM radio station licensed to Ada, Ohio, operating at 94.9 MHz with a Best of the 1970s,80s and 1990s during the day and Best of Today format at night. The station plays smooth jazz music Sundays; a gospel show hosted by Adriane Thompson Bradshaw Sunday afternoons and an oldies show Sunday night. Its studios are located on Ohio Northern's campus in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts, with its transmitter also located on campus. WONB signed on the air on October 18, 1991.
Richard Gainey has served as general manager and advisor since the station went on the air in 1991. Nichole Tebbe, an ONU graduate, serves as station manager.
WONB has a public affairs department which is currently led by Brianne Moseley; this department offers public service announcements from the university and the local community. The public affairs department offers a short program called Northern Notebook, which is a current events announcement.
The station also serves as a cocurricular and an extracurricular activity for students attending Ohio Northern University. WONB is associated with the Communication and Media Studies Department and the Multimedia Journalism major.
