Walnut Square Mall is a shopping mall located in Dalton, Georgia. Opened in 1980, the mall features more than 75 inline tenants, as well as Sears and Belk as anchor stores. The mall is managed by CBL & Associates Properties.
History
The mall opened July 23, 1980[1] with Sears, Loveman's, Belk and J. C. Penney. In 1986, Proffitt's acquired Loveman's and converted the store to that name. When Belk acquired Proffitt's, this store became a second Belk location. Goody's Family Clothing was added in 1990.
Carmike Cinemas expanded its movie theater in the mall to nine screens in 1993, making it the largest theater in Northwestern Georgia.[2] This complex was closed in 2007 for a new theater on the mall's periphery.[3]
Goody's closed in 2009 when the chain liquidated the last of its stores.[4] It became a Rush Fitness center in 2010.
JCPenney announced it intends to close their location in the mall by April 2015.[5]
