Westhorpe is a linear village and civil parish in the Suffolk countryside, thirteen miles (21 km) from Bury St. Edmunds, eight miles from Stowmarket and a mile (3 km) from the villages of Wyverstone and Finningham.

Administratively Westhorpe forms part of the non-metropolitan district of Mid Suffolk.

Westhorpe Hall was a former seat of the Dukes of Suffolk and the place of death of Mary Tudor, Queen of France, with its close neighbour East Thorpe manor, being the seat of a previous duke, William de la Pole, 1st Duke of Suffolk.[2]
