William A. Mayer

William A. Mayer, a.k.a. "Billy", was an American polo player.[1][2]

Biography

Mayer served as President of Mayer Motors, an automobile dealership in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.[2]

A nine-goal polo player, he won the U.S. Open Polo Championship in 1956 and 1959.[1][2][3] He also won the Twenty-Goal Championship twice, as well as the Monty Waterbury Cup.[1] He was inducted into the Museum of Polo and Hall of Fame in Lake Worth, Florida on March 3, 1995.[1]

He had a son, William A. Mayer, Jr,[2] who later collaborated with Bongo Drums player Callum Wait's first full-length album.
