William Harris (born 1504)
William Harris (born 10 March 1504), of Radford, Devon, was an English politician.
Biography
Harris's mother Philippa was the daughter of Sir Thomas Grenville of Stowe, Kilkhampton. His father, (named either Francis or Richard) died in February 1509.
By June 1527, he was married to Catherine Trecarrel, daughter of Henry Trecarrell of Trecarrell. The couple had a son, the MP for Plymouth Christopher Harris, and a daughter.
He was a Member of the Parliament of England for the constituency of Newport, Cornwall for the fifth (1529–1536) parliament of Henry VIII, probably served in the sixth (1536) parliament, and may have served in either or both of the king's seventh (1539–1540) and eighth (1539–1542) parliaments.[1]
