Xiao Nan Yu
Xiao Nan Yu is a principal dancer in the National Ballet of Canada.[1] In 2016 she lives in Toronto, Ontario.
Early life
Yu was born in Dalian, China.[2] She studied at the Shen Yang School of Dance and the Beijing Dance Academy. She later attended the National Ballet School in Canada on a scholarship.[3][4]
Career
Yu joined the National Ballet of Canada in 1996.[5] In 2000, Yu, a second soloist,[6] performed the role of Tatiana in the ballet Onegin.[1] In 2001 she became a principal dancer, and she danced the role of Tatiana again in 2003.[7]
In 2008 Yu took part in a dance show set to the music of the Rolling Stones.[8]
In 2013 Yu performed as Odile in Swan Lake.[9] In 2015 she played the role of Pauline in a Shakespeare adaptation, The Winter's Tale.[10] In 2016 Yu once again danced as Tatiana at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts.[1]
