Plot
It's the end of Will's first term and he has been elected as Chairman for the Christmas Party Committee - mostly due to the fact he was the only one to apply. He also manages to rope Simon, Jay and Neil into helping him. The preparations for the party are focused on in the narrative including visiting an old fashioned clothes shop at the advice of Simon's father (only to rent more modern suits from another business), Simon's unspecified plan to express his feelings towards Carli (in which Jay has apparently agreed to assist him). The night arrives, and Will becomes frustrated by the quality of the party, aware that he will be judged as chairman and nervous as he has once again been threatened by his nemesis, Mark Donovan. Charlotte approaches Will at the party, compliments him on his efforts and requests a dance, which rekindles their semi romantic relationship.
At the party, Jay reveals a more sensitive side of his character to fellow student Big John, admitting his fear of being ignored and how he creates fictitious stories in order to gain attention. The two appear to be progressing into friends, but when Jay is approached Samantha - a girl he realizes shares several of his traits - he insults Big John and steals a drink John had offered him. Some time later, between an insight of the boys experiences at the party, Jay, DJ of the event stops the music at Simon's request, Simon attempts to woo Carli, but - with all eyes at the party on him - he fails to express his love for her. Luckily, everyone is distracted from Simon's potential humiliation when a drunk Neil attempts to kiss the Biology teacher Miss Timms. Donovan then appears and threatens Will after seeing him talking to - and kissing - Charlotte, but everyone at the party defends Will, telling Donovan to leave him alone. Donovan sees Charlotte glaring and he sadly pursues her. Will attempts to deliver a thank you speech, only to be ignored as the party continues. The party ends and the boys (minus Jay who is not present) reflect on the past term on a trampoline in the gym. Jay then appears and tells the boys he has just received oral sex in the DJ booth but caves in and admits it was only a handjob "outside of the trousers". Following some friendly gentle teasing, Jay dives on the other 3 boys and the gang end the term with amicable play-fighting on the trampoline.
Features a performance by Transformer. The band play the song Cinema Car during the first scene at the party.
