This is a Chinese name; the family name is Yan.
Yan Pu was an adviser serving under the warlord Zhang Lu during the late Han Dynasty period of Chinese history. Yan Pu at one time warned Zhang Lu against the slaying of Pang De based on slander spread by Yang Song. After Zhang Lu surrendered to Cao Cao, Yan Pu was entitled a marquess.
