Vice Admiral[1] Zafar Mahmood Abbasi, is a Pakistan Navy officer, currently serving as Deputy Chief of Naval Staff, Operations.
Naval career
Abbasi joined Pakistan Navy in 1976 as a Naval Cadet after receiving an admission at the Pakistan Naval Academy. In 1980, he gained his B.Sc. in Economics and later went to the United Kingdom, where he attended Britannia Royal Naval College at Dartmouth.[2] In 1981, upon his return, he was given commissioned in the Navy as Sub-Lieutenant. He was also conferred with Sword of Honor at the Pakistan Naval Academy. In 1984, Abassi did his specialization in Underwater Warfare from Submarine School of the Pakistan Naval Submarine Service Branch, and another course in Surface Warfare from United States Naval Academy[3] In 1989, he attended the Royal Australian Naval College where he did B.Sc. in War studies and a M.Sc. in War and Strategic studies National Defence University. He served as the Commander of Combined Task Force 150 from April 2010 till October 2010.[4]
