The 2016–17 CERH European League is the 52nd season of Europe's premier club roller hockey tournament organised by CERH, and the 20th season since it was renamed from European Champion Clubs' Cup to CERH Champions League/European League.

The English champion, King's Lynn, didn't took his spot and the 2015–16 Lega Nazionale Hockey losing semi-final CGC Viareggio was invited. After its refuse, Bassano took the spot. The German champion, Iserlohn didn't took the spot, and Dinan–Quévert (2015–16 Nationale 1 Elite 3rd) took its place.

Group stage

The draw for the group stage was held on 10 September 2016, in Mieres, Spain. The 16 teams were allocated into four pots, with the title holders Benfica being automatically placed in Group A. Barcelona, Forte dei Marmi and Liceo La Coruña were the other three seeded teams and were automaticalyy placed in groups B, C and D respectively.[1] The remaining teams were then drawn into four groups of four, with the restriction that teams from the same association could not be drawn into the same group. In each group, teams play against each other in a home-and-away round-robin format, with the top two teams advancing to the knockout stage.[2]

Knockout phase

The knockout phase comprises a quarter-final round and the final four tournament. In the quarter-finals, group stage winners play against group stage runners-up, the latter hosting the first of two legs. The winners qualify for the final four, which will take place at the ground of one of the four finalists.[2]

The first-leg matches will be played on 11 March, and the second-leg matches were played on 1 April 2017.[2]
