Austria – Macedonia relations refer to the bilateral relations between the Republic of Austria and the Republic of Macedonia.[1] Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on 23 December 1994.[2] Austria maintains an embassy in Skopje, while Macedonia maintains an embassy in Vienna.[3]
Relations
Austria, being a member state of the European Union, supports Macedonia's efforts to join the organization.[1] It also supported Macedonia during the country's visa liberalization process and the European Commission's positive decision in 2009 concerning the start of accession negotiations between the EU and Macedonia.[1]
Austria is one of 131[4] countries recognizing Macedonia by its constitutional name.[1][5][6][7]
