Chico is a city in Wise County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,040 at the 2010 census.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 947 people, 358 households, and 259 families residing in the city. The population density was 754.2 people per square mile (290.2/km²). There were 406 housing units at an average density of 323.3 per square mile (124.4/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 94.40% White, 0.21% African American, 1.06% Native American, 2.75% from other races, and 1.58% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 6.34% of the population.
There were 358 households out of which 37.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.5% were married couples living together, 8.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.4% were non-families. 26.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.65 and the average family size was 3.16.
In the city the population was spread out with 30.8% under the age of 18, 6.9% from 18 to 24, 28.7% from 25 to 44, 20.8% from 45 to 64, and 12.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 98.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.5 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $32,955, and the median income for a family was $38,056. Males had a median income of $31,739 versus $18,542 for females. The per capita income for the city was $13,604. About 9.6% of families and 14.3% of the population were below the poverty line, including 18.4% of those under age 18 and 11.4% of those age 65 or over.
