Edmund Withypoll
Edmund Withypoll (1510/13 – 18 May 1582), of Walthamstow, Essex, London and Christchurch Mansion, Ipswich, Suffolk, was an English politician.
Withypoll was the eldest son of Paul Withypoll, MP, and his wife Anne née Curzon. His sister was Elizabeth Lucar, who died in 1537. He succeeded his father in 1547 and began the building of Christchurch Mansion on previously monastic land at Ipswich acquired by his father.
He was elected a Member of Parliament (MP) for Ipswich in 1558. He sat on the bench as a Justice of the Peace for Suffolk from 1561 to his death and was appointed High Sheriff of Suffolk for 1570–71.
He married, c. 1535, Elizabeth Hynde. They had twelve sons and seven daughters. He was predeceased by his eldest son and succeeded by his grandson, Paul.
