Amazon Lab126[3] (sometimes known as Lab126) is a research and development and computer hardware company founded in 2004 by Gregg Zehr, based in Sunnyvale, California[4] and is owned by Amazon.com.[5] It is widely known for developing Amazon's Kindle line of e-readers and tablets.[6][7][8] It is based in Sunnyvale, California and is headed by Gregg Zehr. Name
The name Lab126 derives from the logo of Amazon itself. The arrow in the logo points from A to Z, and both the numbers 1 and 26 are its corresponding numerical values.[9]
Products
Amazon Lab126 mainly develops "easy-to-use, highly integrated consumer products to serve Amazon customers".[10]
In 2011, Lab126 released the Kindle Fire tablet and in 2012 released two new models of the Fire tablet called the Kindle Fire HD.[11] In 2013, it released the Fire HDX.
In 2014, Lab126 released the Amazon Fire TV digital media player and in late 2014 released the Fire TV Stick.
In June 2014, Lab126 announced the Fire Phone that had cameras to track the user's eyes to give the impression of 3D and it was released in July.[5][12]
In 2015, Lab126 released the Amazon Echo, a voice command device. In 2016, it released the Echo Dot, which is hockey puck sized version of the Echo and the Amazon Tap, a smaller, portable version of the Echo.
