Grojband is a Canadian animated series developed by Fresh TV and distributed by FremantleMedia, Ltd. (FME). The series is created and co-directed by Todd Kauffman (co-creator of Sidekick) and Mark Thornton. Executive Producers are Tom McGillis, Jennifer Pertsch, creators of the hit animated reality franchise Total Drama.[1][2] It is geared toward children ages 6 to 11.[3] The series premiered on June 10, 2013 in the United States and on September 5, 2013 in Canada.

Synopsis

Grojband follows an indie rock band formed by Corey and his three best friends, Laney and twin brothers Kin and Kon, as they work to propel their garage band to international stardom. When they don't have the lyrics, Corey and his friends get Trina, Corey's sister, into an emotional mode to write entries in her diary that Corey can use for lyrical inspiration, so that Corey and his friends can perform a perfect song.

Broadcast

In the United States, the series first aired on June 10, 2013 on Cartoon Network[10] and June 25, 2013 on Boomerang.[11] The second half was released online on March 31, 2014, and were shown on Boomerang from February 23, 2015 to April 12, 2015.[12] In Canada, it debuted on September 5, 2013 on Teletoon[13] and Télétoon.[14] Grojband debuted on February 10, 2014 on ABC3 in Australia[15] and in April 2014 on Pop in the United Kingdom.[16] The show started airing on April 7, 2014 on Cartoon Network in Africa.[17]

Home media

In Australia, Grojband was released on DVD on June 4, 2014 by Shock Entertainment. Two volumes were released: Rock On (containing episodes 1-13) [18] and Hear Us Rock! (containing episodes 14-26).[19] The package claims that they are Region 4 DVDs, but they are actually region-free, so they will play on any DVD-playing device.[20]

In December 2015, all 26 episodes of Grojband were added to Netflix in the US.[21]
