Inspector Hornleigh

Inspector Hornleigh is a fictional British detective, the chief protagonist of a popular radio show in the 1930s devised by Hans Priwin and played by actor S. J. Warmington. Between 1938 and 1940 a trilogy of films was produced with Gordon Harker in the title role. A later television adaptation was made in Germany 1961 with Helmut Peine appearing as Hornleigh.[1]

Hornleigh was a cockney detective with the Metropolitan Police and was accompanied by his slight inept partner Sergeant Bingham, a role played by Alastair Sim. [2] Despite the popularity of the series, no further films were made as Sim wished to move on to other projects and avoid being typecast.
