The International Academy of Design & Technology (IADT) in Sacramento, California, is a for-profit college. It offers training in fashion design and marketing, interior design and visual communication. A former Sears executive Clem Stein established the original Academy in Chicago in 1977. Throughout the years, IADT expanded, responding to technological advances along the way. The Sacramento campus opened in 2005, but is set to close in 2017. The campus is currently in the middle of a "teach out", allowing the remaining students to obtain their degrees, and then the school will close its doors.[1]

Bachelor of Fine Arts and Associate of Applied Science Degrees

At IADT - Sacramento, students can choose to earn either an Associate of Applied Science[2] or a Bachelor of Fine Arts / Bachelor of Science degree in one of three areas of study: Fashion Design and Merchandising, Building Information Modeling, or Graphic Design.[1]

Admissions

The requirements for admission into the International Academy of Design & Technology – Sacramento include a personal interview, a high school diploma or equivalent, and completion of an application, enrollment agreement, financial aid forms, and passing the entrance exam. Financial aid is available for those who qualify.[1]

IADT- Sacramento is in a suburban area of Sacramento. The Academy is equipped with industry-current classrooms, instructional labs, computer labs, a library and a learning center.[1]

Accreditation

The International Academy of Design & Technology is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools to offer Associate and bachelor's degrees.[3]

The Academy is approved by the U.S. Department of Education to participate in the Title IV financial aid programs.[4]

Affiliations include the Career College Association and the Sacramento Chamber of Commerce.

This institution has received temporary approval to operate from the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education in order to enable the Bureau to conduct a quality inspection of the institution.[5]

Faculty
