Early life
Joshua was born in Indianapolis on August 10, 1987. His family consists of his father James Sales, mother Susan Sales, and his two younger siblings Kaitlin and Kyle Sales. His music career started early with interest showing very early on. Joshua had plans to play baseball professionally as a pitcher. When his family moved to London, England in 2003, that changed the direction of his life completely.[2]
Introduction to Drum
Joshua was heavily influenced by two things around the same time. In 1996, That Thing You Do came out. This movie was heavily influential in him being exposed to the drums as an instrument. Also, Kenny Aronoff held a clinic in Indianapolis that Joshua was able to go to. The combination of those two things around the same time led to him pursuing drums as a passion.[3]
Drumming career
Joshua moved to Nashville in 2011. He played with many different acts, trying to keep busy. Eventually, in late 2013, he got a call from Sam's team to get together. After talking, Joshua was added on as Sam's full-time drummer.[4] They began a long year of club dates and smaller venues, which were all selling out. They moved up to opening slots for other artists, such as Little Big Town, Billy Currington, and Lady Antebellum.[5]
In 2015, they began the Lipstick Graffiti headline tour. 2015 was an extremely busy year. They closed the year out on the Wheel's Up Tour with Lady A.
In 2016, they opened up for Kenny Chesney on the 2016 Spread The Love tour. They also are playing Bonnaroo 2016.[6]
