The hotel is located next to Marina Square Shopping Mall and in close proximity to Singapore's financial district. Nearby, the Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre is one of Asia Pacific's largest convention centres. Additionally, the world's largest floating stage is at Marina Bay Floating Stadium, which is located in front of Mandarin Oriental, Singapore on Marina Bay.[4] The floating venue hosts concerts, athletic events, theatre performances and cultural festivals.
The Hotel
Originally built in 1987, the Mandarin Oriental, Singapore underwent a significant renovation in 2004 when H.L. Lim of LTW Design Works was hired to update the hotel's interiors.[5] In both 2010 and 2011, Mandarin Oriental, Singapore was named to Condé Nast Traveler's Gold List.[6] The hotel's 527 rooms and suites have floor-to-ceiling windows that feature views of Marina Bay, the Pacific Ocean or the Singapore city skyline.[7] US Architect John Portman designed the atrium-style hotel based on a theatre concept and intended the exterior of the structure to resemble a fan, a nod to the Mandarin Oriental logo.[8][9] Near 100 pieces of fine regional art adorn the property's interior.[10]
Mandarin Oriental, Singapore has two large ball rooms, 13 suites and boardrooms for meetings, and a number of function rooms of varying sizes.[11] Additionally, the hotel has a Business Center available to its guests.
