Nayan Desai (Gujarati: નયન દેસાઈ) is a Gujarati language poet from Gujarat, India.[1] His significant works includes Manas Urfe Reti Urfe Dariyo (1979), Mukam Post Manas (1983) and Dhoop Kaa’n Saaya’n (Ghazals in Urdu). INT - Indian National Theater awarded him Kalapi Award in 2013 for his significant contribution in Gujarati ghazal poetry. He won Kavishwar Dalpatram Award in 2016 for his contribution in Gujarati poetry.
Life
Desai was born on 22 February 1946 in Kathodara, a town in Surat district to Harshadray and Indumatiben. After completing his S.S.C in 1965, he worked in diamond factory. From 1980, he joined Gujarat Mitra, a Gujarati daily, as a sub-editor.
He married Shashi in 1990.[2]
Works
Manas Urfe Reti Urfe Dariyo, his first anthology was published in 1979, followed by Mukam Post Manas (1983) and Dhoop Kaa’n Saaya’n.[3]
Recognition
He received Kalapi Award in 2013 and Kavishwar Dalpatram Award in 2016.
