Paranoid (also known as Frightmare) is a low-budget, independent slasher film directed by Ash Smith. A put-on haunted house becomes the killing grounds for a serial killer.

Plot

While Joni and her boyfriend Shane are walking through a haunted house, they encounter several people wearing masks. However, one man wearing a pumpkin mask throws a stake through Shane's head and chases Joni through the haunted house. He eventually corners her and stabs her to death. Joni and Shane's friends Paul and Liz find the dead bodies of first Shane and then Joni, and the killer then decapitates Liz. Paul manages to escape the house and describes his attacker to the police, but the killer is not caught.

The next year, the haunted house reopens. Andy, Bass, Carrie, Emily, Jake, Linda, Katie, Mason, Ray, and Sarah decide to enter the haunted house, despite warnings from Connor and Ryan, two employees of the house, about sightings of the killer. Indeed, the killer, dubbed "Pumpkin Mask" by the town, stalks the group and goes in after them. Sarah and Emily both try to seduce Bass, but he rejects them. Sarah keeps pursuing him, while Emily has sex with Jake. However, Pumpkin Mask hangs Jake and rapes and strangles Emily.

Sarah finds out that Bass has a crush on Katie, who is dating Mason. She mocks him for this, and as a result he insults her. She throws a punch at him, but misses, and ends up falling and getting a bruise. Sarah tells him that if he does not have sex with her, she will claim that he punched her. Bass throws Sarah off of him and tries to leave the haunted house while she chases him. However, the Pumpkin Mask knocks out Bass and hacks Sarah to death. Katie and Mason find Bass, and a concerned Katie tends to his wound while Mason goes to find the others. Mason manages to call out to Andy and Linda, who are above him, but they do not believe him, so he storms off. Mason then encounters Ray and Carrie, who also are skeptical, but the killer attacks Andy and Linda and throws Andy off the balcony, causing him to fall three floors to his death, demonstrating that Mason was right.

Pumpkin Mask chases down Linda and impales her on a fence. Bass and Katie try to run through the house, and they manage to make it to the lobby and encounter Connor and Ryan. They explain that the killer is Larry, an employee who worked alongside them years ago, but who was abused and humiliated by the visitors because of his awkwardness. They had their suspicions, but because they had no evidence, they did not approach the police. They then discover that they are locked inside the house and cannot go for help, and decide to go back into the house to help their friends. Meanwhile, Pumpkin Mask kills Ray with a saw while Mason and Carrie run. Mason then stabs Carrie and leaves her for the killer. However, after Pumpkin Mask stakes Carrie's head, he disembowels Mason with a drill.

Bass admits to Katie that he loves her, and she tells him that she and Mason broke up. It is then revealed that the killer is not Larry, but Paul, who began murdering when Larry, his brother, was accidentally killed by the group of friends as well as Joni, Shane and Liz. Paul corners Bass and Katie and stabs them. It seems like it is the end for Bass and Katie, but Connor and Ryan appear and save them by shooting Paul. The four then begin to leave, but Paul rises and attacks them. However, Bass beheads Paul with a sword, finally ending his rampage. Police arrive and save the survivors after they break out of the house, and Bass and Katie start dating.
