Phil William Klein (born April 30, 1989) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played for the Texas Rangers.
Career
Klein played college baseball at Youngstown State University from 2008 to 2011. He was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 30th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft.[1]
Klein was called up to the major leagues for the first time on August 1, 2014.[2] He made his first career start on May 20, 2015 against Boston. He pitched 5 1⁄3 innings while allowing 1 run and striking out 4 batters with a win.
Klein was claimed off waivers by the Philadelphia Phillies on June 19, 2016. He was then optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.[3] He was called up to the Phillies on August 3 and was the starting pitcher the same night.[4]
