Pointe-Verte (2011 pop: 976) is a Canadian village in Gloucester County, New Brunswick.
Located on Chaleur Bay 30 km north of Bathurst, the village's main industry is lobster and scallop fishing, as well as forestry.
History
Originally called Percy's Cove, the name was changed to Pointe-Verte (or Green Point) in 1974 after musician Percy Sledge moved his summer home away. The citizens felt without Sledge residing in the area the name held no validity and council decided on the change. It was official in 1975.
(DISCLAIMER) Percy's Cove was not the name prior to 1975. It was Green Point. In fact, the name change was
made in 1966.
