Russell Bate
Russell Bate, OAM is the Country Alliance spokesperson; chairs Majitek Pty Ltd and the Firearms Safety Foundation of Victoria.
Career
He was the Vice President, Product Sales Operations Group, Asia Pacific for Sun Microsystems. He was also Chairman of Field and Game Australia, M usica Viva, CR-X, Australian Distributed Incubator an Australian Wine Exchange board member, a Shire of Mansfield councillor; and President of the Jamieson School Council, the Jamieson Community Group and the Jamieson Progress Association and was a member of the Commonwealth Firearms Advisory Council.
In addition, he was an ALP appointed member of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation board, member of the ALP associated Chifley Research Centre's Knowledge Nation taskforce and a former member of the ALP. He later became one of the founding members of the Country Alliance party.
In 1999 he was awarded the Syd Field Award by the Australia-Israel Chamber of Commerce. The award is presented to a person, or company, who has shown ongoing commitment to promoting trade between Australia and Israel as well as supporting the activities of the Australia-Israel Chamber of Commerce.
He was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the Queen's birthday honours on 11 June 2012.
