SF9 (Korean: 에스에프나인; shortened from Sensational Feeling 9) is a South Korean boy group under FNC Entertainment that debuted on October 5, 2016.[1] They're the company's first dance boy group.[2]
History
Pre-debut & NEOZ School
The group was first known by photos taken at Incheon International Airport when they were headed towards Japan to perform in FNC Kingdom 2015 on 11 December 2015. The group consisted of 11 members at that time, including Jinkyu[3] (now also known as Boys24 contestant) and FNC Entertainment's unrevealed trainee Alex Bell. The members' teaser photos were then released on 12 December 2015, revealing 9 members as the first batch of trainees under the Neoz School trainee system.
In May 2016, they participated as NEOZ Dance in FNC Entertainment's survival show d.o.b (dance or band)[4] where they faced off the NEOZ Band. They later won the survival show with their first track, K.O..
On August 21, FNC Entertainment announced Neoz Dance Team will be called SF9.[5] On August 27, They held their first fan meeting Surprise Festival 9 where they met with 99 fans.[6] They later held their second fan meeting Surprise Festival 9 Autumn Sports Day where they met with 333 fans on September 25. In the same day, SF9 announced the release of their debut on October 5.[7]
2016: Debut with Feeling Sensation
SF9's debut single album Feeling Sensation[8] with lead single "Fanfare" was released on October 5, 2016. The album debut at 8th place and peaked at 6th place on Gaon Album Chart.[9][10]They made their official stage debut on October 6, 2016 on M! Countdown.Their promotion for "Fanfare" was ended on November 6, 2016 on Inkigayo.The group then started the promotion of their second song of the album, "K.O." on 15 November, 2016.[11]
Members
- Youngbin (Hangul: 영빈) was born Kim Young-bin (Hangul:김영빈) on November 23, 1993. He is the group's leader and lead rapper.
- Inseong (Hangul: 인성) was born Kim In-seong (Hangul:김인성) on July 12, 1993. He is the group's main vocalist.
- Jaeyoon (Hangul: 재윤) was born Lee Jae-yoon (Hangul:이재윤) on August 9, 1994. He is the group's lead vocalist.
- Dawon (Hangul: 다원) was born Lee Sang-hyuk (Hangul:이상혁) on July 24, 1995. He is the group's lead vocalist. He is also known for his role in Click Your Heart[12] and for starring as the male lead in the music video of AOA Cream's I'm Jelly Baby.
- Zuho (Hangul: 주호) was born Baek Ju-ho (Hangul:백주호) on July 4, 1996. He is the group's main rapper. He is also known for his role in Click Your Heart[12]
- Rowoon (Hangul: 로운) was born Kim Seok-woo (Hangul:김석우) on August 7, 1996. He is the group's main vocalist and visual. He is also known for starring in the web drama Click Your Heart[12] and participating in an Acuvue commercial alongside girl group AOA's Seolhyun.[13]
- Taeyang (Hangul: 태양) was born Yoo Tae-yang (Hangul:유태양) on February 28, 1997. He is the group's main dancer, main vocalist and center.
- Hwiyoung (Hangul: 휘영) was born Kim Young-kyun (Hangul:김영균) on May 11, 1999. He is the group's supporting vocalist and rapper.
- Chani (Hangul: 찬희) was born Kang Chan-hee (Hangul:강찬희) on January 17, 2000. He is the group's main dancer. He is known for being the youngest member of the group and for his role in the drama Signal as Park Sun-woo.
