History
Sagami-Ōno Station began on April 1, 1929 as the Sagami-Ōno Signal. It was upgraded to a full station on April 1, 1938 as the Tsūshin-Gakkō Station (通信学校駅), being named after the nearby Army Telecommunication School (Rikugun Tsūshin-Gakkō). It was renamed Sagami-Ōno on January 1, 1941, as part of the counter-intelligence movement to eliminate the names of military facilities from maps.[1] Work began on the new station complex from September 1, 1996.
