Santa Marcela, officially the Municipality of Santa Marcela (Filipino: Bayan ng Santa Marcela), is a municipality in the province of Apayao in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) of the Philippines. The population was 13,613 at the 2015 census.[3] In the 2016 election, it had 7,152 registered voters.[4]

Santa Marcela was created into an independent municipality on June 17, 1967 when several barrios were separated from Luna and Flora and constituted into the newly created town.[5]

Geography

Santa Marcela is located at 18°17′N 121°26′E / 18.28°N 121.43°E / 18.28; 121.43.

According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, the municipality has a land area of 196.32 square kilometres (75.80 sq mi)[2] constituting 4.45% of the 4,413.35-square-kilometre- (1,704.00 sq mi) total area of Apayao.
