Sarwan is a community development block that forms an administrative division in Deoghar district, Jharkhand state, India. It is located 14 km from Deoghar, the district headquarters.
Geography
Sarwan, the eponymous CD Block headquarters, is located at 24°22′43″N 86°46′23″E / 24.37861°N 86.77306°E.[1]

Demographics
As per 2011 Census of India Sarwan CD Block had a total population of 90,757, all of which were rural. There were 47,269 (52 %) males and 43,488 (48 %) females. [Population below 6 years was 16,570. Scheduled Castes numbered 14,932 and Scheduled Tribes numbered 6,338.[3]
Sarwa is a village with a population of 3,515 as per 2011 census.[3]
Literacy
As per 2011 census the total number of literates in Sarwan CD Block was 47,027 (63.39 % of the population over 6 years) out of which 29,432 (63 %) were males and 17,595 (37 %) were females.[3]
As per 2011 census, literacy in Deoghar district was 64.85.[4]Literacy in Jharkhand (for population over 7 years) was 66.41% in 2011. [5]Literacy in India in 2011 was 74.04%.[6]
School
Sarwan has been famous for contributing towards education in Deoghar district. Two schools which were/are famous for contibutions towrads providing notable alumni (Pradeep Kumar Lal,Senior Executive Panjab National Bank and Shankar Burnwal,IIT ) are Middle School Sarwan and High School Sarwan. Middle school came into limelight under Headmaster Late Narsingh Pandit ji. His strict disciplines and effors to make sure all teachers attend classes wihout fail led to nurture many students and made them successful in their career. Some of the notabel teachers from Middle school are/were Bijay Kumar Sah (Mathematics), Madan Pandit (Mathematics, Sanskrit), Tej Narayn Rajhans (Social Science, Hindi and Mathematics), Teklal Mahto (Science), Rita Didi (various subjects), Maheshwar Sir (English).
