Višnjik (in English: Cherry orchard) is a neighborhood in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Location
It is located just above central parts of the old city center, and belongs to Centar municipality.
History
Neighborhood is designed as residential after the World War II, mostly between early 1950's and late 1960's, on a hillside above city center never developed before, and on which, beside lots of small private gardens, also existed large cherry orchard, hence the name Višnjik (in English: Cherry orchard).
Features
Neighborhood designers utilized existence of abundant natural greenery of the location, and developed designated space by preserving most of it, which constitute one of its main qualities and attraction. Višnjik neighborhood on its northern side borders with large Koševo hospital complex (KCUS, Klinički centar univerziteta Sarajevo).[1]
