Laura Pausini concert chronology |
The World Wide Tour 1997 is the debut tour by Italian singer-songwriter Laura Pausini. Beginning on 1 March 1997 and ending in Atlantic City on 28 June 1997 the tour was in support from her album Le cose che vivi.
This has been the only tour when Laura visited countries like Colombia. It was expected that Pausini would return to such countries during the Inedito World Tour between 2011 and 2012, but since she announced her pregnancy on 15 September 2012 such plans backfired.
Background information
After a massive album promotion made by Warner Music, Pausini announces during 1996 that finally it will be a "World Wide Tour" to please the high demand from the public that aclaimes concerts around South America and Europe.
With early performances in Europe (particularly on Italy), Laura with a short crew visits the world performing in America, saying "I feel that I'm a Latin woman every time I sing in Spanish".
For Pausini's management, it was a challenge to take the tour to North America due to the low promotion in the edge of the continent. Special critics review with very positive comments the performance at Miami, when Pausini made an effort to give the fans what they were looking for.
The promotion of the album took over more than a year to please the label's agreement.
Broadcast and recordings
No recording was ever made or released by Pausini. However, in order to promote the tour as well the album, Pausini sang many songs in Spanish and Italian on 22 February 1997 during the Viña del Mar International Song Festival in Chile.
However, after years, the show is available on YouTube. A famous bootleg of the first performance of Pausini in Brazil, on 16 May 1997 is also available.
Setlist
The setlist presents some variations in every continent.
However, this is the most complete information about the programa in every city.
For the shows in Brazil, presents some songs in Portuguese. This songs are: Incancellabile, Le cose che vivi and Due Innamorati Come Noi.
Due to compromise between the languages on her albums, Pausini took the liberty to sing and both languages (Spanish and Italian) most of the time. Especifically, sang three Portuguese songs during the shows at Brazil.
On 16 May 1997 show, Pausini sang "The Girl from Ipanema" in Portuguese, to please her Brazilian audience on the day of her birthday.
