Boston, Texas
Boston is an unincorporated community in and the county seat of Bowie County, Texas, United States. It is part of the Texarkana, Texas–Texarkana, Arkansas Metropolitan Statistical Area. Its two area codes are 430 and 903, its ZIP code is 75570, and it is in the "Central Standard Time" time zone. The town had a population of only 200 in 1990.
History
Boston is situated on the Missouri Pacific Railroad. It is located 22 miles west of Texarkana. It is in the central part of Bowie County. When citizens wanted a post office, it applied under the name Center, but that name was already taken. (see Center, Texas). Hood and Glass were also nominated, but rejected for the same reason. In the 1980s the courthouse was built in New Boston, but Boston remained the county seat. The population is 200 as of 2000.[1]
