Mein-ma-hla Kyun Wildlife Sanctuary (Burmese: မိန်းမလှကျွန်း တောရိုင်းတိရစ္ဆာန် ဘေးမဲ့တော) is a wetland reserve in Lower Myanmar (Burma). It is located in Bogale Township in Ayeyarwady Division.[1] Mein-ma-hla means beautiful woman in Burmese, as the island is linked to a local Burmese myth. The wetland reserve is located on Mein-ma-hla island(kyun) and is classified as a mangrove ecosystem reserve. The reserve is occupies an area of 137 square kilometres (52.79 sq mi) and was established in 1986.
Flora and fauna
The protected area has a total of 29 mangrove tree species and saltwater crocodiles.[2]
