St. Peter's Church, also known as St. Peter the Apostle Church, is a Roman Catholic church located near Queenstown, Maryland. It is a prominent landmark along US 50, its brick walls unusually close to the highway.

Description

The original church was built between 1823 and 1827, but was substantially altered in 1877, re-orienting the plan of the building from a simple rectangular building to a cruciform plan with an octagonal apse on the north side.

The detailing was altered to a more Victorian-Gothic appearance with simple rose windows and Stick style trim. Only the brick walls of the original church remain. The interior retains its Victorian detailing, stained glass and altar furnishings.[2] St. Peters is associated with the Our Mother of Sorrows church in Centreville.[3][4]

St. Peter the Apostle was placed on the National Register of Historic Places on March 10, 1980.[1]
